3D Printing Summer School for High Schoolers sponsored by LANL CPO/ Triad National Security

This intensive 4-day 3D printing class will bring  8 rising high school students from underserved communities in Northern New Mexico (including tribal communities), as well as from Los Alamos to Los Alamos Makers.

Students  will learn:

- computer aided design (Tinkercad) and 3D printing.

- basic principles of load bearing structures and how to use material efficiently to build strong designs.

Students' designs will be tested using a test fixture that loads their structures to failure, and have the chance to improve designs and also learn how 3D printing settings can affect the strength of parts.

Students coming from outside of Los Alamos will receive a $100 travel stipend, and all students and volunteers will be provided with Lunch.

Volunteers for the course will include current LANL employees.
